ノースカロリナ州立大学のRodolphe Barrangou教授らは今回、Current Opinion in Microbiology 誌刊行レビューにて、バクテリオファージを用いて、様々なCRISPRシステムを送達する最近の進歩について考察し、組換えファージが一般的に、微生物群集の機能と構成を合理的に設計するための、他に類を見ない効果的な手段となると結論づけている。
